The information of the Society came as a result of a recommendation from an Annual General Meeting of the former Labrador Inuit Association which is now the Nunatsiavut Government.
Delegates said something should be done about setting up a communications Centre in Labrador.
So, they recommended that a study and/or a survey be conducted.
Tom Axtell was the person hired to do the study and the survey, so he traveled to each north coast community.
Axtell later became one of the first television production trainers in Nain when the OKalaKatiget was just getting started.
He now works with Nasautet and the National Aboriginal Health Organization in Ottawa.
Axtell was in Nain a couple of weeks ago, after being away for about twenty years.
The Moravian church in Happy Valley Goose Bay had its annual Christmas sale recently.
We spoke to Hilda Lyall who is the chapel servant for the Moravian church in HVGB and says she's been a chapel servant since 1950's or 1960's.
Lyall says there were 4 table full of crafts such as knitted socks, table cloths with Inukuluks on them, baked goods such as pies, cakes, blue and red berries and jams for sale that day.
She says they served soups and baked goods at the Annex in Moravian church and it was a good turnout.
Lyall says they held the election for President of the Moravian church and Katie Randell was elected.
The Vice-President is now Christine Vincent, the Treasurer is Ruth Flowers and Secretary is Miriam Lyall.
She says she was the President for 2 and a half years and learned a lot from it.
Lyall adds she didn't know the amount of the money that was raised that day, and she wishes everyone a Merry Christmas.
