Women Homeless in the North

A Study of Womens Homelessness North of 60 was released recently.

Melissa Irwin is the Communication Officer for Inuit Tapiriit kanatami.

She says the study was a joint project between five organizations in the three Inuit regions of the Arctic.

Although Labraodr was not included in the study, Irwin says the President of ITK is asking the Federal Government to establish housing solutions for Nunavut, Inuvialuit, Nunavik and Nunatsiavut.

It is well documented that there is a very serious housing crisis in all Inuit regions.

The infromation in the study was gathered from focus groups, service providers and interviews from 205 women.
